This is a simple recipe for cooking boiled rice (Basmati) using the absorbtion method.
1. Measure out a cup of rice, add to a medium sized pan (I don't bother rinsing the rice for this).
2. Add double the amount of water to rice - 2 cups in this instance, to the pan.
3. Bring to the boil, and boild through for a minute or so with the lid off.
4. Put the lid on the pan, and turn down to the lowest setting for a low simmer.
5. Cook for around 10-14 minutes until all the water has been absorbed.
6. Turn off the heat and leave the rice for another 5-10 minutes to steam gently.
7. Serve :-)
Never tempted to lift the lid (unless you've added too much water), as it will spoil the process !
